When Albert Lea’s First Lutheran Church on West Clark Street was constructed in the early 1920s, one of the prominent points above the roof line was a combination of brick chimney and smokestack on the top portion. A detail worth noting is how the c
This brick smokestack at the Albert Lea Post Office was constructed in 1935. Local architect Le Roy Gaarder designed the entire building and obviously added the decorative touch to the top of the smokestack. The metal cap may have been added in later year
The brick smokestack at Hawthorne Elementary School can be described as freestanding. It has been used for an incinerator and coal-fired furnace in the past. This smokestack, built in 1953, has a lightning rod on the top.
